Treatments by Physician Specialists

At Victoria Park Medispa, we believe that all injectable treatments should be administered or supervised by general practitioners and physician specialists – board-certified plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons, dermatologists, as well as the nurses who work under the direction of their medical directors.

Our physicians are not only specialists, they are trainers of other physicians in Canada and around the world on the application of aesthetic injectables for a natural and rejuvenating result.

A Wide Selection of Optimal Solutions

Like a painter who selects from a pallet of artistic materials and colours, our physician specialists use a wide selection of leading products to ensure you get the best possible result. Aesthetic injectable treatments include wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, dermal fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, and Radiesse, and fat reduction injectables like Belkyra. They will also provide the option of the right laser treatment where appropriate.

Non-Surgical

All our solutions at Victoria Park Medispa are non-surgical, including aesthetic injectable treatments now known as the non-surgical nose job and lip augmentation. However, where appropriate our plastic surgeons can offer surgical solutions.

Schedule Your Physician Consultation

Your experience begins with a consultation with one of our physician specialists or highly skilled nurses. We perform a complete review of your age, facial structure, skin type and the improvements you would like to see. We then walk you through the various options that could have the greatest benefit for you, review before and after photos, and develop a treatment program together.

For a consultation with a Victoria Park Medispa physician, the range is between $125 and $360 depending on the type of consult. A consultation for an injectable treatment with a nurse injector is free, however, if a prescription is written by a physician to proceed with a treatment, a $55 charge will apply.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE AN AESTHETIC INJECTABLE APPOINTMENT

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve, etc.) and natural products (fish oil, St. John’s wort, gingko biloba, evening primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and vitamin E) for at least one week before your treatment.

  • Tell your injector if you are currently taking anticoagulants

  • Avoid alcohol 24 to 48 hours before your treatment to minimize the risk of bleeding and bruising.

  • If you are prone to bruising, you may be advised to take Arnica Montana 3 days before your procedure.

  • It is best to arrive at your appointment with clean skin and no make-up, however, we will clean the area thoroughly prior to injecting.

  • If you have a history of perioral herpes simplex, please inform your injector.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and/or the use of sunbeds 24 hours before treatment.

  • You must wait 1 to 2 weeks (laser dependent) after a laser treatment before receiving an injectable treatment.

  • You must wait a minimum of 2 weeks before and after any vaccine to receive treatment.

  • Please inform the clinic if you are pregnant or breast-feeding (treatments are contraindicated in such circumstances).

  • Cease application of:
  • anti-ageing products such as retinol/retinoids/glycolic acid: 24 hours before your treatment to avoid irritation.

SKINCARE PROTOCOL

  • Gentle sulphate-free cleanser with neutral pH.
  • Medical grade vitamin C 15% serum with hyaluronic acid (morning).
  • Hyaluronic acid serum (night)
  • Cream with ceramides

To optimize results:

5-7 days post-treatment, once or twice a week, apply a mask with ingredients that stimulate collagen production (ex: retinol, collagen, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, peptides).

DERMAL FILLERS – Post-Treatment Instructions

During the first 24-48 hours after your dermal filler treatment, you may experience redness, mild swelling and/or tenderness in the treated areas. Redness and swelling usually resolves within the first 24 hours following treatment. In the rare instance of a bruise, this will usually resolve over the upcoming days.

If you experience any skin discoloration such as marbling, paleness, severe redness, darkening (other than bruising) or severe pain in the areas treated, it is important to contact our office immediately.

Following lip injections, swelling is normal. This swelling will gradually improve over the course of a day to a week and lips may appear slightly uneven during this period. To reduce swelling and redness, it is recommended to gently apply ice packs in 15-minute intervals every 1-2 hours until symptoms subside.

At times, patients may experience bruising. We suggest using cold compresses in the first 24 -48 hours. Bruising can be stimulated by alcohol and products/medications that may affect how your blood coagulates. If you have a bothersome bruise, you may also contact our clinic to have a laser treatment that will help resolve the bruise. This service is at no additional cost. It is entirely normal that you might have some redness in the injected area for the first 24-48 hours.

It is also normal that you may feel very small lumps or swelling in the skin after the treatment. Please avoid touching any treated area for 6 hours following injections. Following this period, you can massage them gently as this will help. Your provider will evaluate this with you on follow up.

To avoid pressure on the injected sites, it is preferable to sleep on your back for the 48 hours following injections. If possible, use extra pillows for elevation to help with swelling.

NEUROMODULATORS (BOTOX / DYSPORT/ XEOMIN) – Post-Treatment Instructions

Immediately after a neuromodulator treatment, it is possible to experience certain side effects such as redness and sensitivity in the injected area. These side effects are temporary and will resolve on their own within the hours following the injections. In some cases, patients may experience bruising. To improve the appearance of bruising you may gently apply ice for 10 minutes every hour on the first day, 3 hours after injection. Bruising may worsen with alcohol consumption and/or blood thinners. Neuromodulator injections begin to take effect in the 48-72 hours post injection. The full effect of the treatment will be noticed gradually over 7-10 days.

For the 3 hours post injection:

DO NOT rub or manipulate the skin in the area that was injected.

DO NOT lie down, bend face forward or go for a massage.

DO NOT wear a hat, headband, or any tight head garment.

DO NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.

Should you have any concerns, please call Victoria Park Medispa and ask to speak to your provider s medical coordinator.
